Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, Head of the Public Relations Division of the INP, announced the implementation of traffic engineering measures for a smooth Christmas and New Year traffic flow in 2024, on Monday (18/12/23). "The police have prepared traffic engineering, including contraflow and one-way systems," he confirmed during a readiness briefing for the INP Public Relations Task Force for Christmas and New Year Security. To ensure security during the 2024 Christmas and New Year holidays, he highlighted the execution of Operation Lilin 2023, deploying 129,923 personnel from December 22, 2023, to January 2, 2024. In addition to traffic management, the police are securing residential areas for Christmas and New Year in 2024. Travelers are urged to report vacant homes to the nearest police station for data collection and patrols. He also mentioned that in anticipation of potential natural disasters, a Contingency Task Force of Operation Aman Nusa has been established as a precautionary measure. Recognizing the confluence of Christmas and New Year security measures with preparations for the 2024 elections, he conveyed a message from Chief of INP Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, stressing the paramount importance of prioritizing unity and harmony despite differences.
