Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps, Inspector General Aan Suhanan during a press conference says there are seven violations that will be the focus of attention during the Traffic Safety Operation.
“We are focusing our attention to the violations that caused the highest victims and high fatalities, such as overspeeding, using non-standard helmets, not wearing safety belts, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using phones while driving, and overloading,” said INP Traffic Corps Chief.
During the press conference Aan also announced the Traffic Safety Operation after reviewing the high rate of national traffic incidents of 152,000 accidents with 27,000 fatalities. Based on the data, there are at least 76 people died per day due to traffic accidents and in one hour there are at least three people who died due to traffic accidents.
Meanwhile, the Central Java Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Senior Superintendent Satake Bayu explained the 2024 Candi Traffic Security Operation, by saying “The police regional operation with the codename “2024 Candi Traffic Security Operation” will be held for 14 days with the operation type of securing the situation which prioritized preemptive and preventive approach. The operation will be supported by law enforcement, public relations, and ops reinforcement and other police activities to realize safe, secure, order, and smooth traffic ahead the 2024 Eid Al-Fitr,” said Bayu.
Additionally, police also stated that the operation generally aims to further improve the compliance and awareness of the public in traffic security and order to suppress traffic accident and fatality numbers.
