Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps initiated contraflow measures on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road from kilometer 36 to kilometer 72 and one-way traffic from Cikatama Toll at kilometer 72 to Kalikangkung Toll at kilometer 414 at 9.30 pm on Friday (5/4/2024). Inspector General Aan Suhanan, the Head of the INP Traffic Corps, explained that this decision was based on traffic counts indicating volumes above the minimum limit on the Trans-Java Toll Road. "We anticipate starting at 9.30 pm because traffic from various sources in Jakarta, including Jati Asih and Pondok Indah, has been increasing hourly, surpassing set parameters. We allowed clearance until 7.30 pm to prepare for the contraflow from kilometer 48 to kilometer 72 and one-way traffic from kilometer 72 to kilometer 414,"  he said. In addition, a contraflow with two lanes will be implemented from Cikampek Toll at kilometer 48 to kilometer 72 following clearance. "Our contraflow at kilometer 48-70 is due to heavy traffic on Cipali Toll Road, exceeding 4,000 vehicles per hour. We acted swiftly to clear the area and implement contraflow and one-way traffic on Cipali," Chief Aan added. Despite increased motorcycle traffic on the North Coast arterial route, traffic on the east side remains manageable. However, several freight vehicles continue to operate despite the ban starting Friday. "We're addressing persistent freight vehicles by parking them in designated areas until the 16th," Chief Aan said. (mg/ta/pr/nm)
