Inp.polri.go.id - Beijing. In a joint effort with local authorities, the Indonesian Consulate General in Guangzhou  repatriated an eight-month-old Indonesian baby, CP, from Fuqing, Fujian province, China. "Our priority is to ensure the baby's health and safety," said Indonesian Consul General in Guangzhou Ben Perkasa Drajat in a written statement on Friday (5/4/2024) as reported by antaranews.com. The baby was saved from potential sale to Chinese nationals after being taken to China by an Indonesian woman, S, on a tourist visa in January 2024. S's aim was to marry a Chinese national arranged by another Indonesian, SU. Upon arrival in Fuqing, SU and others, all Chinese nationals, arranged CP's sale. The suspects are now in Chinese custody, with both Indonesian and Chinese nationals facing charges. The Indonesian Consulate General in Guangzhou, along with local police, collected evidence of human trafficking to ensure the baby's safety. The Indonesian National Police (INP) and the Ministry of Foreign Affiars will oversee the case, Ben said. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
