inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Head of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, encouraged his staff to strengthen responsive and humane public services by intensifying the "Police Greet" and "Police Smile" programs.

He emphasized that these two programs represent a transformation of INP's public services in the traffic sector.

"Through these two programs, we want to demonstrate that we are not merely the traffic authority, but also friends of the community. Warm, educational interactions, and building shared awareness are the foundation of empathy-based service," said the Head of the Traffic Corps on Wednesday (7/16/2025).

He stated that the two programs are two-way interactions between traffic police and the public to create harmony, discipline, and safety on the roads.

The "Police Greet" program is a direct and engaging communication approach, where traffic police officers not only carry out their supervisory and law enforcement duties but also actively greet road users with sympathy.

Meanwhile, the slogan "Police Smile is the Main Traffic Mark" emphasizes the importance of a friendly and humane attitude, namely treating fellow road users with awareness, empathy, and respect from every officer in the field.

The Head of the Traffic Corps added that this two-way interaction is not only a form of communication but also part of education. For example, in the "Police Greet" program, the public is given a space to ask questions, offer suggestions, and even voice complaints.

Implementation in various regions has shown positive impacts. For example, during rush hour at busy intersections, the presence of traffic police officers greeting and smiling at drivers helps reduce road user stress levels.

In some areas, this interaction is also used to convey safety advice directly, heart-to-heart.
