Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Indonesian National Police have uncovered a large-scale illegal liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) mixing operation in Sukoharjo, Central Java, causing state losses estimated at Rp 5.4 billion (around US$330,000).

“We arrested three suspects identified as R, T, and A, who had been transferring gas from subsidized 3-kg cylinders to non-subsidized ones for over a year,” said Brigadier General Moh. Irhamni, the Director of the INP Criminal Investigation Agency’s Special Crimes Unit, on Monday (3/10/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

Officers seized 1,697 subsidized gas cylinders, 307 twelve-kg cylinders, and several vehicles during the raid. The suspects face up to six years in prison under the Law on Oil and Gas.

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga’s representative Taufiq Kurniawan praised the police, noting this was the second LPG fraud case uncovered in Central Java and Yogyakarta this year. He urged consumers to verify authenticity using official QR seals.
