Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) and its regional police offices, through the Task Force for Combating Human Trafficking Crimes (TPPO), have made significant progress in uncovering numerous cases across the country, the Chief of INP Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said.

As of June, 18 2023, the Task Force has received a total of 409 Police Reports (LP). Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, the Head of Public Affairs Bureau at the Public Relations Division, confirmed that 494 suspects have been arrested in connection with these reports.

"The operation has resulted in the successful rescue of 1.553 individuals," he stated in a written statement on Monday (19/6/23).

The suspects employed various tactics, with the majority enticing victims with the promise of job opportunities as Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) or Domestic Workers, accounting for 347 cases. There were 90 cases involving the exploitation of victims as Commercial Sex Workers (PSK), 5 cases of victims exploited as Ship Crew Members (ABK), and 20 cases of child exploitation.

During this announcement, he delivered a message on behalf of the Chief of INP, urging the public to stay vigilant and exercise caution when considering offers of high-paying jobs, whether within the country or abroad. The Chief of INP, he added, also stressed the importance of verifying the legitimacy of labor supply companies to safeguard the social protection, welfare, and legal rights of individuals seeking employment opportunities.
