Jakarta Leads Medal Standings at PON XXI

Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. Jakarta has taken the top spot in the medal standings at the Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) XX Aceh- North SumatraI, surpassing East Java. 

As of Saturday morning, Jakarta has won 75 gold, 73 silver, and 65 bronze medals. West Java is in second place with 74 gold, 71 silver, and 71 bronze medals, while East Java has dropped to third with 71 gold, 65 silver, and 61 bronze medals, according to antaranews.com.

Jakarta's rise was fueled by gold medals in finswimming, petanque, and roller sports. Key achievements include Andi Irawan’s gold in men’s petanque singles, relay wins in roller sports, and Edgar Xavier Marvelo’s gold in wushu.

Records were also broken, with Atina Nur Kamila of Central Java setting a new national and PON record in javelin, and Sapwaturrahman of West Nusa Tenggara breaking the long jump record. Nella Agustin from North Sumatra set a new PON record in the women’s 200 meters.
