Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have kicked off a road safety campaign aimed at motor vehicle drivers through the Jaya Safety Operation 2024, which commenced on Monday (4/3/2024) across the city.
Assistant Superintendent Heri Amran, the Head of Public Education of the Security and Safety Sub-directorate at the Metro Jaya Police's Traffic Directorate, explained that his team distributed brochures and reminders to drivers and passengers of public transportation as parf of the campaign at the Blok M Terminal in South Jakarta.
"We urge cooperation from all parties, including drivers and passengers, to adhere to traffic regulations and avoid actions that could endanger themselves and others," he said.
Chief Heri said that the operation's aim was not to find faults with drivers but to prevent and reduce accidents and violations.
In addition to Blok M Terminal, the campaign also targeted busy traffic spots like CSW Bus Stop and Senayan Roundabout.
"Officers displayed banners reading 'Jaya Safety Operation 2024' and urged both two-wheel and four-wheel vehicle users to exercise caution and follow traffic rules," he said,.
The police remind drivers of both types of vehicles to always wear helmets and seat belts, avoid driving against traffic, refrain from using cell phones while driving, stop at red lights, respect lane markings, and abstain from driving under the influence of alcohol.
The campaign aimed to educate the public to increase awareness and compliance with traffic rules, ensuring safer and more orderly traffic conditions for all road users.
The Jakarta Metro Police has deployed a total of 2,939 personnel for the Jaya Safety Operation 2024, which will run for 14 days from 4 to 17 March 2024.
