Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Central Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police removed 109 flags belonging to civil society organization, locally known as mass organizations or ormas, during Operation Brantas Jaya 2025 to maintain public order and reduce the risk of intergroup tensions.
“This is part of law enforcement to ensure public order,” said Central Jakarta Police Chief Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro over the weekend. “No group symbols should dominate public spaces arbitrarily.”
The operation was conducted across eight areas, with the highest number of removals—32 flags—recorded in Sawah Besar area. The police emphasized the need to prevent groups from asserting territorial claims through displays of flags or symbols in public areas.
Separately, Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police launched a 15-day Anti-Extortion Operation, emphasizing both legal enforcement and preventive measures.
“This operation aims to create a stable security climate and an environment conducive to investment,” said Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto, as quoted by antaranews.com.
He stressed that firm action would be taken against public disturbances, particularly those involving intimidation by mass organizations.
