Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) have concluded 3,326 cases related to extortion and organized thuggery during a coordinated nationwide crackdown that began on 1 May 2025, INP Head of Public Relations Division Inspector General Sandi Nugroho said on Friday (9/5/2025).
“We will not tolerate intimidation, extortion, or violence by individuals or groups operating under the guise of mass organizations,” he said in a statement, as quoted by antaranews.co .
The crackdown revealed several notable incidents: Subang Sub-regional Police arrested nine individuals at an industrial zone; Tangerang Sub-regional Police detained 85 perpetrators; and Central Kalimantan Regional Police summoned a local mass organization leader over the closure of a company site.
The operations aimed to secure public spaces and stabilize the business climate.
Police targeted offenses ranging from extortion and illegal levies to hate speech and abductions. In addition to arrests, they checked the legality of involved organizations and proposed license suspensions for groups proven to commit crimes, in coordination with regional governments and stakeholders.
