Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo announced Wednesday (21/1/2026) that the Jakarta administration will implement mandatory Work From Home (WFH) and remote learning policies during periods of extreme rainfall and potential flooding.

The decision was a response to last weekend’s record-breaking precipitation, which reached 280mm, far exceeding initial forecasts and overwhelming several districts.

"If such weather patterns recur on workdays, I will officially enact WFH and distance learning measures to ensure public safety," Governor Pramono said at City Hall, as quoted by antaranews.com.

To mitigate further risks, the Jakarta administration has authorized Weather Modification Operations (OMC) and ordered the maximum deployment of the capital's pumping infrastructure. While recent floods subsided quickly due to improved drainage, the Governor emphasized that rainfall exceeding 250mm remains a critical threshold for citywide inundation.

Authorities are now prioritizing real-time meteorological data to trigger emergency protocols, ensuring minimal disruption to the workforce and the educational sector during the ongoing monsoon season.
