Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Jayapura Customs and Excise Office) handed over 200 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition to the Damai Cartenz  Task Force and the Papua Regional Police for further investigation on Monday.

"Regarding the 200 rounds of ammunition, we will focus our investigation on identifying the sender, origin, destination, and transportation used," said Damai Cartenz Task Force Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo on Tuesday (6/10/2026).

The seizure occurred on Saturday night when customs officers intercepted a suspicious longboat heading toward Papua New Guinea. Boat crew members threw items overboard before fleeing, but officers recovered three packages containing illegal cigarettes and 200 rounds of military-caliber ammunition. 

Damai Cartenz Task Force Commander Inspector General Faizal Ramadhani affirmed that law enforcement is working to trace the supply chain, while Damai Cartenz Task Force Deputy Chief Senior Superintendent Adarma Sinaga urged the public to report illegal firearm activities.
