Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chief Setyo Budiyanto, said that joining the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention would allow the country to prosecute foreign officials involved in bribery to strengthen Indonesia’s anti-corruption framework in both public and private sectors.

"The benefits include stronger anti-bribery laws enabling the criminalization of bribery involving foreign officials, tougher corporate sanctions, and improved reporting and auditing standards to detect corruption," he said on Friday (6/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews/.com.

Setyo also highlighted that OECD membership would give Indonesia access to international peer review mechanisms, technical assistance, expert support, and training from member countries. It is considered important to help optimize anti-corruption efforts in the private sector—critical for improving Indonesia’s investment climate and global business reputation.

Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto has confirmed that Indonesia is working to expand KPK’s authority as part of fulfilling requirements for OECD accession, including adherence to the Anti-Bribery Convention.
