Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Al-Azhar Grand Mosque in South Jakarta will distribute some of the meat of qurban sacrificed livestock to Palestine, in a gesture of solidarity for the Eid al-Adha celebration.

“The meat will be sent to several regions: first to Palestine, then to areas in Sumatra such as Riau Islands, West Sumatra, and South Sumatra,” said The Head of the Mosque managing office Tatang Komara said during the Idul Adha ceremony on Friday (6/6/2025).

Additional shipments are planned for parts of West Java, Central Java, East Java, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi, as reported by antaranews.com.

This year, Al-Azhar mosques nationwide received 202 cows and 992 goats and sheep. At the main Jakarta mosque complex alone, 26 cows and 248 goats and sheep were accepted and will be slaughtered on Saturday.

Indonesia marked Eid al-Adha on Friday. Eid al-Adha, the Day of Sacrifice commemorates the Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God, who then provided a ram as a substitute.

Muslims who can afford it are encouraged to sacrifice a livestock animal to be distributed typically one-third for the family, one-third for relatives or neighbors, and one-third for the poor and needy.
