Initial gunfire occurred around 7:35 am local time on Wednesday, believed to be launched by the Omukia KKB faction led by Jeki Murib, from the forest near the airport. The military’s Kopasgat unit immediately coordinated with the Damai Cartenz Task Force team and began sweeping the area.

“There were no casualties among security forces or civilians,” Chief Faizal confirmed. Authorities stress that armed threats to vital infrastructure will be met with legal action.
