Inp.polri.go.id - Bekasi. Joint task force of illegal imported goods control reveals their operation for the last month.
"For the last month we have seized illegal imported goods with a total value reaching 46,188,205,400 IDR which did not met the requirements according to our law," says the Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan in press conference on Tuesday (8/6/2024).
He further detailed that the Indonesian National Police have seized 1,883 bags of used imported clothes. Then, Tanjung Priok Customs Inspectorate General have seized 3,044 bags of used imported Clotehes, while the Cikarang branch have seized 696 bags containing various illegal imported goods, and the Trade Ministry have seized 20,000 cloth rolls.
Minister Zulkifli says according to their operation, most of the importer are foreign nationals. The joint task force even investigated their storage warehouse and found many of them cannot even speak Indonesian.
On the other hand, the Indonesian National Police Criman Investigation Agency Chief, Commissioner General Wahyu Widada, says that his institution will continue to support and work together with the Trade Ministry in controlling illegal imported goods.
"This illegal goods affects our MSMEs as we all know that MSMEs is our economy backbone. If qe continue to let this slide, many of our MSMEs would go bankrupt," said Wahyu.
