Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Judges’ Solidarity (SHI) submitted four key demands during a meeting at the Supreme Court (MA) on Monday (7/10/2024), primarily focused on improving judges’ welfare, which has not been adjusted since 2012.

First, SHI urged the Supreme Court and the Indonesian Judges Association (IKAHI) to push for revisions to Government Regulation No. 94 of 2012, which regulates financial rights and facilities for judges.

SHI spokesperson Fauzan Arrasyid emphasized that allowances are used for essential needs like housing and family support, as reported by antaranews.com.

Second, SHI called for the Draft Law on Judicial Positions to be revisited, aiming to strengthen oversight of judicial conduct.

Third, SHI demanded immediate action on the Contempt of Court Bill, citing threats and harassment against judges during trials.

Lastly, SHI proposed regulations to protect judges’ families, especially in regions where intimidation is common.

The meeting was attended by Supreme Court leaders, Judicial Commission members, and representatives from the Ministry of Finance and the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas).

SHI has also launched a nationwide leave movement from 7 to 11 October 2024  to advocate for these issues.
