Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Indonesian government has issued a travel advisory urging Indonesian citizens to postpone visiting Middle Eastern countries due to escalating security concerns.
"We strongly advise postponing travel plans to Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Israel, Palestine, and Yemen," said Judha Nugraha, the Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Monday (7/10/2024).
The Ministry also called on Indonesians currently residing in the region to immediately report their presence and maintain communication with the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut.
"For those with flights to the Middle East, please monitor the situation closely and anticipate possible disruptions, especially if there is a conflict between Iran and Israel," Judha added.
Indonesians are advised to follow local authorities' guidance, ensure personal safety, and be cautious about visiting certain locations.
"If an open conflict reaches Beirut, it will affect the embassy's capacity to conduct evacuation or rescue operations," Judha warned, as reported by antaranews.com.
The advisory underscores the importance of vigilance given the volatile situation in the region, and urges all Indonesians to prioritize safety above travel plans.
