Karimun Police Thwarted 32.07 Kg of Methamphetamine

inp.polri.go.id -  The Drugs Investigation Unit of the Karimun Police managed to thwart the smuggling of 32.07 kg of methamphetamine, which was wrapped in green guanyinwang Chinese tea. The illicit goods are planned to be smuggled from Malaysia to Indonesia. Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Commissioner Harry Goldenhardt explained that the arrest disclosed by the joint team of the Drugs Investigation Unit of the Karimun Police with the Customs and Excise Office of the Riau Islands Regional Office. The team conducted monitoring around the waters of the Cacing Strait, Kundur District, Karimun Regency on Tuesday, October 24th, 2022. "Around 23:00 WIB, while patrolling in the Cacing Strait waters, Kundur District, Karimun Regency, the team managed to secure a unit of Speedboat Fiber, colored blue and gray, floating on the outskirts of the Cacing Strait waters, Kundur District, Karimun Regency," explained the Head of Public Relations of Riau Islands Police. When the team approached the speedboat, the captain of the speedboat, threw himself into the sea and drowned himself. After a search for approximately 2 hours, the team did not managed to found the captain so the team decided to stop the search and secure the blue-gray Fiber speedboat. "The speedboat was secured at the Riau Islands Customs and Excise, and the methamphetamine was secured at the Karimun Police. Until now, the Karimun Police is still conducting an investigation to find the perpetrators, namely the captain of the speedboat who escaped," closed the Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police.
