Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemenkominfo) has taken a significant step in addressing mobile number fraud by launching a dedicated channel for complaints on the website aduannomor.id.
Wayan Toni Supriyanto, the Director General of Post and Information Technology (PPI) at the Ministry of Communications and Information, announced this initiative in Jakarta on Tuesday (19/9/23), "The Ministry of Communications and Informatics has opened a complaint channel to block numbers through the website aduannomor.id, which is designed specifically to receive public complaints about numbers that are suspected to be fraudulent."
This complaint mechanism, established under the Ministerial Regulation No. 5 of 2021 on Telecommunications Operations, allows individuals to submit evidence, including voice recordings or screenshots, to support their claims of fraud.
Upon receiving a report, officials from the Directorate General of PPI at the Ministry conduct an investigation. If the allegations are confirmed, the Ministry will direct the mobile operator to block the identified number.
In addition to the website, the Ministry has also set up a complaint hotline at 159 to further facilitate the public in reporting phone numbers associated with fraudulent activities.
"Based on data from the last three months, out of 2.970 complaints received, 2.970 numbers were blocked," shared Wayan.
Beyond reporting potential scams, aduannomor.id also provides a tool for the public to verify the authenticity of the numbers they intend to contact.
Wayan further revealed that in response to fraud involving mobile numbers in instant messaging platforms, the General Directorate of PPI collaborates closely with the General Directorate of Applications and Information (Aptika).
For those wishing to report fraudulent activities through instant messaging applications like WhatsApp, Telegram, or similar services, they can file complaints through the aduankonten.id website managed by the General Directorate of Aptika, he concluded.
