The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) launched an attack on the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Post of the Papua Regional Police which assigned to BKO Yahukimo Sub-Regional Police, on Paradiso Street in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Highlands. The incident took place on Monday (31/7/23) at approximately 23.40 local time. "According to the report received via Handy Talkie (HT), the attack was conducted using firearms from the left side of the Brimob Post," said Police Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, the Head of Public Relations of Papua Regional Police, on Tuesday (1/8/23). Responding swiftly to the report, the joint personnel from Yahukimo Sub-Regional Police and the Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force promptly mobilized, reinforcing the area and taking immediate action. "The joint personnel managed to gain control of the situation around the location," he said. He revealed that there were no casualties resulting from the attack. He further assured that the situation in Dekai City, Yahukimo Regency, had been stabilized and returned to a safe and conducive state. "This incident is suspected to be carried out by the KKB in the Yahukimo region. The joint personnel are currently maintaining active patrol activities around Dekai City," he concluded. (ay/pr/nm)
