KKB Attacks Health Workers in Amuma: Damai Cartenz Task Force

The Damai Cartenz Public Relations Task Force Assistant Superintendent Bayu Suseno said that the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) was behind the attack on health workers from the Papua Regional Emergency Medical Health Reserve Team who were on medical visit in Amuma district, Yahukimo regency, Papua Mountains. "It is true thatthe  five health workers who were sent to Amuma district to conduct health examination on Tuesday were attacked by KKB. They were estimated to be about 20 people, reportedly carried long and short guns as well as traditional weapons such arrows and sharp weapons," he said in Jayapura on Wednesday (1/11/2023). The five health workers were identified as Dr Danur Widura, the Head of the Papua Regional Crisis Centre team, Angganita Mandowen, the Coordinator of the Papua Regional Crisis Centre team and team members Sandy Ransar, Ferdinandus Suweni, Adrianus Edwardus Harapan. They suffered bruises and lacerations due to the attack, antaranews.com reported. "At present, they have been evacuated to Jayapura," the spokesperson said. Yahukimo Regent Didimus Yahuli expressed disappointment at the attack and harassment of the five health workers. "I am very disappointed with the persecution of the health workers because their presence in Amuma is very noble, namely to provide health services," said Regent Didimus. The  health workers have been in Amuma since Monday for medical examination on local people in Amuna who reported to be suffering from famine. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
