Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura.  An armed criminal group (KKB) in Papua carried out a deadly attack in Kolf Braza District, Asmat Regency, South Papua, on Sunday, killing a civilian identified as Indra Guru Wardana before setting his house ablaze. 

The assailants are believed to be members of KKB Yahukimo led by Elkius Kobak.

“For now, the chronology is being verified as access to the location is difficult,” said Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, the Commander of the Damai Cartenz Task Force, on Tuesday (23/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.

He explained that six armed men were involved in the attack, one carrying a rifle with a scope. 

Authorities continue to face communication and logistical challenges in reaching the remote crime scene. The task force has pledged firm action against the perpetrators while maintaining security for residents.
