KKB fired on a helicopter piloted by a foreigner in Tsinga Village, Tembagapura District

Jayapura - The helicopter belonging to PT Sayap Garuda Indah was flown by a foreign pilot in Tsinga Village, Tembagapura District, Mimika Regency, Papua, Wednesday (6/1/2021). The shooting was allegedly carried out by the Kalikopi Armed Criminal Group (KKB). As for the chronology of the incident, at around 07.03 WIT, a helicopter belonging to PT Sayap Garuda Indah, Eagle 407 HP / PK-ZGM took off from the New Mozes Kilangin Timika Airport to carry out a GPS survey in the Benangin area near Tsinga Village, Tembagapura District. The helicopter was piloted by Stuward and carrying two passengers, namely Dave Jhon Aviation Manager and Ardy Lotmaster. At 08.40 WIT, while taking aerial photographs right in the Benangin area, the pilot felt the smell of fuel. The pilot decided to land on Hellyped Benangin and saw a hole in the body of the plane then the pilot returned to Hellyped 66 Tembagapura. At 08.53 WIT, the PK-ZGM Helicopter arrived at the hellyped 66 runway. Next the pilot checked and found a small hole in the bottom of the helicopter. The pilot then reports to PT FI security for further checks. After receiving this information, personnel from the Mimika Resort Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the Tembagapura Sector Police carried out the crime scene investigation and examination of witnesses to reveal the perpetrators of the shooting of the helicopter. "From this incident there were no fatalities," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the Papua Regional Police, Police Commissioner Ahmad Muthofa Kamal. As a result of the crime scene, the PT SGI Bell 407 HP / PK-ZGM helicopter was hit by a shot on the left helper's body, precisely under the left passenger door. As a result there is a fuel leak at the bottom. The helicopter was shot while flying at an altitude of 1,500 feet. Currently the helicopter is still on standby at the MP 66 Hidden Valley Tembagapura helipad. Meanwhile, the perpetrators are still in pursuit of joint personnel of the Indonesian National Army and the Indonesian National Police. However, there is a strong suspicion that the shooting was carried out by KKB Kalikopi. "The police have received reports, coordinated with related parties, pursued the shooters. The case is being handled by the Mimika Police," said the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police. From the results of the investigation, the Benangin area was the KKB Kalikopi route from the Kalikopi KKB headquarters to Tsinga Village to get food.
