Inp.polri.go.id - Intan Jaya. The Damai Cartenz Task Force confirmed that the Criminal Armed Group (KKB) opened fire in Sugapa District, Intan Jaya regency, Papu at around 2.55 PM ON Tuesday (13//8/2024), 

The gunfire was heard from Wandoga Village after a special task force unit (Pasasgat) officers deployed a drone for area surveillance, which revealed a victim lying near the Wabu River.

The victim, identified as Raimon Gustam Kailimang, a worker for the Tigi Jaya Permai (TJP) project from the Makassar ethnic group, sustained severe injuries including gunshot wounds to the head, right arm, and right chest.

Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, the Head of Damai Cartenz Task Force, confirmed that the shooting was carried out by KKB Kodap VIII Intan Jaya, led by Lewis Kogoya.

Senior Superintendent Dr. Bayu Suseno, the Damai Cartenz Task Force, said that Raimon and his colleague, Robi Belau, were at the river to collect water when they were approached by an armed KKB member. The attacker shot Raimon from about one meter away and also assaulted Robi before fleeing towards Gunung Wabuk.

Chief Bayu emphasized that Raimon was a civilian and not a government spy, contrary to the KKB's usual suspicions.

Raimon’s body has been evacuated and is set to be sent to Makassar for burial on 14 August 2024 while Robi Belau, who is a witness and a victim of the assault, was questioned by the investigation team.
