Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi, took the initiative to campaign “Awas Hoaks Pemilu” or “Beware the Danger of Election Hoax”. According to him, his campaign is set to be the reminder for the community to be more vigilant when receiving and sharing the information related to the 2024 Elections. He states that along with the agenda of 2024 Peaceful Election, he will also push his agenda of Awas Hoax Pemilu 2024. He invites the public to actively prevent hoax and disinformation, particularly those related to the 2024 Elections. “We need the collaboration from all people to prevent hoax,” he said on Friday (10/27/2023). The ministry invites all public elements, particularly the mass media to proactively prevent hoax by presenting accurate, direct, and quality journalism. “The expectation is that the news related to the election is not aimed just for clout, because media has an important role as the fourth pillar of democracy, to maintain the integrity of the election,” he explains. Moreover, Budi reveals his party has coordinated with the digital platform provider. He believes that this is in accordance with Constitution of electronic information and transaction which committed to ban hoax content 24/7. Previously Budi also states that he has collaborated with election organizers, namely the General Election Commission, the General Election Supervisory Body, as well as law enforcement officials. He reiterated that community involvement is crucial in preventing hoax. “Let us together fight against hoaxes by confirming every information that we received, and not share any information that contains hoax.
