inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) is monitoring and investigating the ammunition explosion incident that resulted in dozens of fatalities, including civilians, in Garut Regency, West Java (5/12/2025).

"Since Thursday, we have been requesting information from witnesses at the location, in Garut Regency," said Komnas HAM Member Uli Parulian Sihombing, quoted by Antaranews on Friday.

According to Uli, Komnas HAM is requesting information from several witnesses, including government officials, witnesses in the field, and the victims' families.

In addition, Komnas HAM will also request information from the Indonesian National Military (TNI), Siliwangi Military Command, Garut Sub-regional Police, and West Java Regional Police regarding the ammunition explosion.

Previously, TNI officials, Wahyu Yudhayana, explained that the explosion occurred when the Indonesian Army was destroying ammunition by the ranks of the Central Ammunition Warehouse III in Sagara Village, Cibalong District, Garut Regency, West Java, Monday (5/12/2025) at 09.30 WIB.

The explosion resulted in 13 deaths, four of whom were members of the TNI and seven other victims were civilians.
