Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A member of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) Poengky Indarti suggested that the Directorate of Women and Children Protection (PPA) and Human Trafficking Crimes (PPO) would be led by female police officers known as Polwan.
"With the signing of the Presidential Regulation, we hope that the Directorate of PPA and PPO will soon be running well under the leadership of a senior female officer," she said on Sunday (18/2/2024).
Commissioner Poengky said that the establishment of the special PPA directorate is necessary considering the increasing number of human trafficking cases, with women and children being the majority of the victims in recent years.
"Hence, the new directorate will consolidate the handling of cases of violence against women and children and human trafficking cases," she explained.
The establishment of the PPA and PPO Directorate was based on a Presidential Regulation regulating the addition of directorates within the INP Criminal Investigation Agency.
