Inp.polri.go.id - Bogor. Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno set an ambitious target of establishing up to 6,000 tourism villages by the end of 2024 to spur national economic development.
He highlighted that out of over 80,000 villages in Indonesia, approximately 7,500 possess tourism potential. "We aim to develop about 80 percent of these villages, totaling around 6,000," Minister Sandiaga said on Sunday (18/2/2024). He emphasized that these 6,000 tourism villages could significantly contribute, up to 4.5 percent, to the national gross domestic product (GDP). Upon reaching the target, it is projected to generate around 4.4 million jobs within the creative economy sector.. The initiative to develop tourism villages stems from the notable 30 percent growth in visits to such areas post-COVID-19 pandemic, Minister Sandiaga said . Highlighting the global recognition received by Nglanggeran Tourism Village in Yogyakarta and Panglipuran Tourism Village in Bali, he was determined to replicate such achievements across the country.
