Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that the arrest of East Kolaka Regent Abdul Azis, was not connected to the NasDem Party’s national meeting in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

“The arrest operation was not conducted during the event,” said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu at the KPK headquarters in Jakarta early Saturday (9/8.2025), as quoted by antaranews.com. 

He explained that the NasDem agenda began on Friday, while the sting operation took place on Thursday.

On Saturday morning, KPK named five suspects in a Rp126.3 billion bribery case involving the upgrade of Kolaka Timur’s regional hospital. The project was funded through the state’s Special Allocation Fund as part of a Ministry of Health program worth Rp 4.5 trillion in 2025.

Two private contractors are accused of bribing Abdul Azis, a Health Ministry official, and the project’s commitment-making officer.
