Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Deputy Manpower Minister Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan as a suspect in an extortion case tied to safety and health (K3) certification at the Ministry of Manpower.
KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto said on Friday (22/8/2025) that 11 suspects were charged, including the Deputy Minister, who was arrested in a sting operation.
KPK revealed Deputy Minister Immanuel Ebenezer received Rp3 billion in December 2024 and a Ducati motorbike in April 2025, which remained unregistered to avoid detection, according to antaranews.com
He is detained for 20 days starting Friday. Investigators allege K3 certification fees were inflated from Rp 275,000 to as high as Rp 6 million, burdening workers beyond their monthly wages.
KPK Deputy for Enforcement Asep Guntur Rahayu said that Deputy Minister Immanuel Ebenezer failed to stop the scheme despite his authority. Instead, he allegedly allowed and requested a share of the illegal proceeds. The scheme, running since 2019, continued until KPK’s operation this week.
