Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Madiun Mayor Maidi a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving extortion linked to project kickbacks and corporate social responsibility funds, the agency announced in Jakarta on Tuesday (20/1/2026).
The case concerns activities within the Madiun City Government in East Java.
“Based on sufficient preliminary evidence, we have upgraded the case to the investigation stage and named three suspects,” said KPK Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu during a press briefing at the KPK headquarters, as reported by antaranews.com
In addition to Maidi, who served as mayor for the 2019–2024 and 2025–2030 terms, KPK also named a trusted associate from the private sector and the head of the city’s Public Works and Spatial Planning Office. Investigators identified two clusters of alleged crimes: extortion related to project arrangements and gratification involving unlawful benefits.
The KPK has detained all suspects for 20 days, from 20 January to 8,February 2026, at the KPK detention facility, while the investigation continues.
