The General Elections Commission (KPU) office underwent a transformation on Saturday in anticipation of the upcoming the first 2024 presidential debate scheduled for Tuesday (12/12/2023). KPU Commissioner August Mellaz said that the debate stage designed in a circular fashion, featured elevated spectator seating reminiscent of a football stadium's tribune. The stage design prioritizes visibility for presidential and vice-presidential candidates, covering the entire four-wheeled vehicle parking area and ensuring soundproofing. "The capacity is 800 people," he said on Saturday (9/12/23). The debate schedule includes sessions on December 12 and 22, 2023, and January 7, 21, and February 4, 2024, all in Jakarta. The presidential debates will be held three times, while the vice-presidential debates will occur twice. The themes for the first debate include governance, law, human rights, corruption eradication, democracy strengthening, public service enhancement, and citizen harmony. The second debate will focus on economic aspects such as people's economy, digital economy, finance, investment, taxation, trade, budget management, infrastructure, and urban development. The third debate will cover defense, security, international relations, and geopolitics. The fourth debate will delve into sustainable development, natural resources, environmental issues, energy, food, agrarian matters, indigenous communities, and villages.
