Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. Led by Police Senior Superintendent Eka Mulyana, the Food Task Force of the INP conducted on-site inspections at Semarang City's main markets, Peterongan and Bulu, on Friday (8/12/23). Collaborating with agencies like the Department of Industry and the Economic Affairs Division of Central Java Province, the task force aimed to proactively address food stock and pricing ahead of the 2024 holiday season.
Police Senior Superintendent Eka Mulyana emphasized the significance of ensuring stable food prices for the public during the upcoming holiday season. The inspection, involving multiple agencies, focused on monitoring the availability and pricing of essential food items. At Bulu Market, observations revealed a surge in red chili pepper prices to IDR 85,000 per kilogram. Mulyana attributed this increase to the adverse effects of extreme hot weather, disrupting the normal chili farming cycle. "The extreme hot weather has disrupted the chili farming cycle, creating conditions where it's not yet time for harvesting. However, chilies must be harvested promptly to prevent them from rotting. On average, the national condition of chili prices remains elevated," he explained.
