Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. Kupang City Sub-regional Police have arrested three suspects for their involvement in a public altercation that led to the death of a 39-year-old man in Maulafa District, Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara.

The Kupang Police Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Assistant Senior Inspector Marselus Yugo Amboro, said the suspects, identified by their initials H, O, and Y, were detained following the incident, which started during a drinking party in Bello Village.

“The victim left the party but later returned and confronted the suspects, resulting in a verbal dispute. One of the suspects then stabbed the victim in the thigh, causing severe bleeding,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (8/10/2024).

The suspects transported the victim, identified as JR, to a local hospital, claiming it was a traffic accident. However, police determined the victim died before arriving at the hospital.

The suspects have been charged under Articles 170(2)3, 354(2), and 351(1) of the Criminal Code, which carry a maximum 12-year prison sentence. Police have also seized a knife and a motorcycle as evidence.
