inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Forest and Land Fire Coordination Desk stated that law enforcement related to forest and land fires not only targets perpetrators in the field, but also those managing and exploiting the burned land.

In a press conference on the progress of forest and land fire management, Brigadier General Honi Havana, Head of the Public Relations and Data Information Bureau of the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs, stated that law enforcement is being carried out properly and professionally.

"This means that law enforcement will not only target individuals or perpetrators in the field, but will also apply to those managing or utilizing the land," he said in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/29/2026).

According to data from the Coordination Desk presented by Honi, there have been 245 police reports related to forest and land fires, with 196 individuals named as suspects and 96 corporations currently being prosecuted.

"There are 245 police reports, 96 corporations being processed, and 196 individuals have been named as suspects. The process will of course continue according to applicable regulations," he said.

Honi stated that this step follows the direction of the President and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs to enforce the law against forest and land fire-related violations firmly and swiftly.

According to him, investigations need to be comprehensive, including those involving recurring forest and land fires, so that legal action does not stop at negligence if other violations are found.

In addition to criminal proceedings, the government is enforcing administrative law against business entities involved in forest and land fires.

Honi stated that the Ministry of Environment has sealed 57 business entities, while the Ministry of Forestry has imposed administrative sanctions in the forestry sector on 26 businesses.

Of these 26 businesses, five have had their Forest Utilization Business Permits (PBPH) revoked by the Ministry of Forestry.

According to Honi, law enforcement is expected to have a deterrent effect and prevent the recurrence of violations related to forest and land fires.
