inp.polri.go.id - Bungo. Police have cracked down on illegal gold mining (PETI) activities along the Batang Tebo River in Sungai Ipuh Village, Limbur Lubuk Mengkuang District, Bungo Regency, Jambi.

During the operation, which took place on Saturday (9/26/2026) afternoon, officers discovered several facilities suspected of being used for illegal gold mining.

Bungo Sub-regional Police Public Relations Chief, First Police Inspector Bambang Juli Mandala, stated on Sunday (9/27/2026) that officers did not find the perpetrators upon their arrival at the location. Mining activity had also ceased before officers could conduct their inspection.

"When officers arrived at the location, the PETI perpetrators were gone, and mining activities had ceased. However, the joint team managed to secure several facilities used for operations," he said.

At the location, officers found a gold screening unit, a miners' camp, and a 1,000-liter oil tank.

All of the facilities were then destroyed on site. This measure was taken to prevent the equipment from being reused for illegal gold mining activities.

"All evidence was destroyed by burning at the scene," he said.

Bambang said the police will continue to intensify patrols and take action against PETI, especially those taking place in river basins.

According to him, these measures are necessary to prevent illegal mining activities that have the potential to damage the environment and disrupt river functions.

"We will continue to conduct regular monitoring and enforcement to take firm action against violations and maintain environmental sustainability in Bungo Regency," he said.

The police urge the public to play a role in preventing illegal gold mining by reporting any illegal gold mining activity in their area.
