Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Indonesian weightlifter Rizky Juniansyah has earned a spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics following his gold medal victory at the IWF World Cup 2024 in Phuket, Thailand. Rizky, competing in the 73 kg category, lifted a total of 365 kg, surpassing China's top lifter Shi Zhiyong, who won silver with 356 kg, according to antaranews.com on Thursday (4/4/2024). Under Olympic rules, only one athlete per country can compete in each weightlifting category. Therefore, Rizky secured the Paris ticket for Indonesia by outperforming compatriot Rahmat Erwin Abdullah, who finished third with 355 kg. Rosan Roeslani, Chairman of the Inddonesian Weightlifting Association (PABSI), said, "We already have four qualified athletes, coincidentally in two of the same categories. According to the new Olympic regulations, we can only send one athlete per category." Rizky's outstanding performance included a snatch lift of 164 kg and a clean & jerk lift of 201 kg. He was only edged out by Shi Zhiyong's 165 kg snatch. Indonesia also has a chance to secure more Olympic tickets through the weightlifting contingent in the 67 kg category, represented by Mohammad Yasin. Yasin ranked fourth with a total lift of 293 kg, narrowly missing out on bronze. North Korea's Ri Won Ju claimed gold in the 67 kg category with a total lift of 333 kg, while Italy's Sergio Massidda took silver with 317 kg.
