The Jambi Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Krisno Halomoan Siregar, along with the Gapu Military Command Brigadier General Nyamin, accompanied Jambi Governor Al Haris in monitoring and evaluating the wildfire handling in East Tanjung Jabung Regency on Thursday (8/27/2026).
The activity demonstrates solid collaboration between the regional government, Indonesian National Military (TNI), Indonesian National Police (INP), Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and all related elements in ensuring optimal handling of forest and land fires, while also conducting direct checks on conditions in the field.
The group headed to a hotspot in Berbak National Park, specifically in Pingai Rejo Hamlet, Rawasari Village, Berbak District.
Krisno emphasized that handling forest and land fires requires the involvement of all parties. The Jambi Regional Police have deployed hundreds of personnel from the Forest and Land Fire Task Force to carry out prevention, extinguishing, cooling, patrols, and law enforcement.
"In the field, there are more than 300 of our members involved in the Forest and Land Fire Task Force. This demonstrates our commitment to assisting the government in handling wildfires, from prevention to on-the-ground handling," said Chief Krisno.
Regarding law enforcement, there are seven cases with eight suspects still under investigation and further questioning. The police are still investigating whether the incidents were intentional.
"We are still investigating the seven cases with eight suspects. Investigators will examine and confirm all the facts on the ground to determine whether there was any element of intent or other factors. The legal process will be carried out professionally based on the results of the investigation and the evidence found," explained Krisno.
He also emphasized the importance of synergy between the TNI, INP, local governments, BPBD, Manggala Agni, companies, the community, and all related elements in preventing the spread of forest and land fires, especially in areas with high vulnerability.
"We are not only focused on extinguishing fires once they have started, but the most important thing is prevention. The community and all parties must work together to protect the environment and refrain from burning land that can trigger forest and land fires," he emphasized.
