Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) recorded a significant rise in public requests for protection in 2025, receiving 13,027 applications, a 27.51 percent increase from 10,217 requests in the previous year.

LPSK Chair Achmadi, a retired police brigadier general, said on Friday (2.1.2026) that the surge reflects growing public trust and awareness of the importance of witness and victim protection. 

Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta, he emphasized that each application represents real struggles by victims and witnesses seeking justice amid threats and intimidation.

Out of the total applications, LPSK provided 11,162 protection services to 8,843 protected individuals, marking a 41 percent increase year-on-year. The majority of applicants were victims (11,911), followed by witnesses (635) and reporters (219), indicating a high demand for direct protection among crime victims.

Deputy Chair Susilaningtias noted sharp increases in applications related to corruption, serious assault, and sexual violence, with services ranging from physical security to medical, psychological, psychosocial assistance, and restitution.

LPSK stressed that protection is not merely procedural but must be humane, empathetic, and accessible throughout the criminal justice process.
