Inp.polri.go.id - Poso. The Madago Raya Task Force of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police has deployed personnel to assist victims following a magnitude earthquake that struck Poso on Sunday.
“We moved quickly to assist people in the affected areas, especially those needing evacuation, and to establish emergency posts,” said Senior Superintendent Kurniawan Tandi Rongre, the Head of the Preventive Task Force, on Monday (18/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
He stressed that ensuring residents’ safety, assessing damage, and distributing aid remain top priorities. Officers also set up temporary shelters and distributed basic supplies to displaced families.
The magnitude 5.8 tremor, as confirmed by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), damaged dozens of homes and displaced hundreds.
Local authorities confirmed that nine villages were impacted, with at least 35 homes damaged and four public facilities, including churches and a school, affected. More than 430 residents have taken refuge, while aftershocks continue to be recorded.
