Inp.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. The Riau Regional Police are investigating a drug trafficking network after two couriers were caught attempting to smuggle 13 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, including through Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport in Pekanbaru.
Authorities said the narcotics had been divided into 61 packages for distribution.
“Officers are continuing to trace the trafficking network as well as possible money laundering linked to this case,” said Riau Police Director of Narcotics, Senior Superintendent Putu Yudha Prawira, on Monday (18/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The case began when Aviation Security at the Airport detected suspicious luggage on Friday, uncovering six kilograms of meth bound for Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. A follow-up search of the suspects’ rented house revealed another seven kilograms hidden in a suitcase along with a digital scale.
Police arrested two men, identified as A (40) and AP (28), who were traveling with their wives. Investigations show the drugs were supplied by a man identified as “M” at a Pekanbaru hotel.
