Inp.polri.go.id - Tarakan. A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck Tarakan, North Kalimantan on Saturday, (10/8/2024), at approximately 3.20 pm local time.
The tremor was also felt in Berau, East Kalimantan
The earthquake's epicenter was located at coordinates 2.80° North Latitude and 117.74° East Longitude, about 63 km southeast of Tarakan, with a depth of 11 km.
According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the quake was felt in Tarakan, Tanjung Selor, and as far as Berau with an intensity scale of III-IV MMI. This level of intensity indicates that the shaking was noticeable to many people inside buildings, could be felt by some outside, and caused minor damage like cracking of pottery and rattling of windows or doors.
There have been no reports of significant damage or further impacts from the earthquake as of now.
