Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck off the coast southeast of Cilacap Regency, Central Java, on Saturday (8/8/2026) at 110 pm.
"The epicenter was located 209 kilometers southeast of Cilacap, Central Java, at a depth of 10 kilometers," reported the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) via its official X account.
According to BMKG data, the quake's coordinates were recorded at 9.59 South Latitude and 109.27 East Longitude. The agency noted that the preliminary information prioritized reporting speed, meaning data processing remained subject to updates as more seismic details arrived.
No immediate reports of casualties, damage, or tsunami threats were issued following the offshore tremor. Authorities continue to monitor the situation while advising local communities to remain calm and rely on verified official updates.
