Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Banda Aceh on Friday (7/3/2025) at 7.42 pm local time, just before the fasting month of Ramadan’s after dawn Tarawih prayers.

According to Andi Azhar Rusdin, the Head of the Aceh Geophysics Station at Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake’s epicenter was located at 5.40°N, 94.28°E, with a depth of 10 kilometers.

The tremor was felt in Banda Aceh, Sabang, and Pidie. 

However, BMKG confirmed that the quake posed no tsunami threat.
