Inp.polri.go.id - Makassar.  Makassar City Sub-regional Police have uncovered the distribution of new synthetic narcotics MDMB-INACA and methamphetamine in the city. Senior Superintendent  Mokh, Ngajib, the Makassar Police Chief, disclosed the revelation of two cases during a press conference on Thursday (4/4/2024), as reported by antaranews.com. The first arrest occurred on 29 2024, nabbing suspect AR alias Dinda with 350 grams of methamphetamine. On 31 March 2024, suspect AMF alias Echa was arrested with 20 kilograms of MDMB-INACA. The investigators continue to pursue three other suspects involved in the drug trade. Head of the Makassar Police Narcotics Unit, Superintendent Doli M Tanjung, said that the suspects were distributing both methamphetamine and MDMB-INACA. These new synthetic narcotics, with effects similar to marijuana, have been circulating in Makassar for about three months, posing a significant risk to society. The suspects face severe penalties under anti-narcotics laws, with potential sentences ranging from six years to life imprisonment. Chief Ngajib emphasized the potential harm to society if these narcotics were to spread further, estimated at 62,000 people. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
