inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Metro Jaya Regional Police explains the chronology behind the Mall Ciputra fire, West Jakarta, at 00.50 am. The fire was started from the Warung Leko Restaurant on the fifth floor.

Metro Jaya Regional Police Public Relations Division Chief, Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam explains that initially two cleaning services of Mall Ciputra were cleaning the escalator on the fifth floor, where they heard the sparks of fire.

“After that, witnesses searched where the sound came from and saw Warung Leko Restaurant was burning,” says Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam in his official statement on Friday (10/4/2024).

According to Ade, witnesses immediately called the firefighter to extinguish the fire. When extinguished with a hydrant, the fire did not subside and grew bigger instead.

"It took about 30 minutes to extinguish the fire," said the Head of Metro Jaya Regional Police Public Relations Division.
