Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Mataram Sub-regional Police in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) have enlisted the Bali Regional Police Forensic Laboratory to investigate the fire that destroyed the NTB legislative council (DPRD) building during protests on 30 August 2025.
“Evidence from the scene, including documents, tools used in the protest, and items burned inside the building, has been sent to the Bali forensics lab. We are waiting for the results,” said Mataram Police Criminal Investigation Chief Assistant Senior Inspector Regi Halili at a press conference on Wednesday (17/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
He confirmed that security staff and parliament officials had been questioned as witnesses.
Chief Regi emphasized that the cause, whether deliberate arson or a result of rioting, will only be determined once the forensic report is complete. He rejected social media claims suggesting an internal plot to burn the building.
“I was at the scene. The fire started after protesters broke through the south gate. Allegations of deliberate internal burning are false,” he said.
