inp.polri.go.id - North Kalimantan. The North Kalimantan Regional Police showed its commitment to combating illicit drug trafficking by destroying methamphetamine evidence on Monday (8/25/2025).

The destroyed evidence, 16.81 grams of methamphetamine, was the result of a police report involving a male suspect. Of the total 17.21 grams of evidence, 0.2 grams each was set aside for forensic laboratory and trial purposes.

The drug termination process was carried out based on the Narcotics Confiscation Status Determination Letter from the Tarakan District Attorney's Office, with the number TAP-4352 / O.5.15 / ENZ.1 / 08/2025 dated August 14, 2025.

The destruction was also attended by representatives from the Health Service, the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP), the High Court, the High Prosecutor's Office, and the North Kalimantan Provincial PWI Partners, as a form of synergy and transparency between institutions in handling narcotics cases in the jurisdiction of the North Kalimantan Regional Police.

The Acting Head of Unit 1 Sub-Directorate 3 of the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the North Kalimantan Regional Police, Police Senior Inspector Mahmud, said that if the evidence had  circulated in the community, the potential economic loss that may occur would have reached IDR 344 million, with an estimated selling price of IDR 17 million per gram.

"We are currently developing the case and surely will share the results to our media partners," he explained.

The destruction of the evidence was carried out by placing the narcotics in a container filled with water, then dissolving it in a special liquid.

This destruction step is part of an effort to ensure transparency and accountability in the handling of evidence by investigators. The North Kalimantan Regional Police also emphasized their commitment to continuing to uncover drug networks, both nationally and internationally, in order to reduce the number of illicit drug trafficking in North Kalimantan and Indonesia in general.
